When it comes to keeping your business safe, no expense should be spared. Fire is one of the most dangerous threats that can threaten a business, regardless of its size or location.
Federal, state, OSHA, insurance companies, and individual cities may enforce fire codes to protect the population from the dangers of fire. Every business must comply with fire codes through the installation, service, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
Commercial kitchens are one of the most dangerous places for fires. Restaurants may contain high-heat industrial equipment, and it can be difficult to safeguard your kitchen staff and equipment. Fire extinguishers are only one component of an effective kitchen fire prevention strategy. Fire sprinkler systems are crucial in protecting your customers, your staff, and your investment.
A restaurant fire suppression system is a safe and efficient way for your kitchen to extinguish fire hazards quickly at the source.
Our experts at Gold Standard will teach you how to maintain and operate restaurant fire suppression systems and help you get started in planning your fire safety procedure.

Fire sprinklers are among the most recognizable and effective fire safety devices. They’re also commonly referred to as sprinkler systems or simply sprinklers.
These devices can detect when a fire has broken out and activate to begin releasing water onto the flames immediately. Sprinkler systems not only limit the spread of fires but, with early action, can eliminate them and prevent the damage from spreading beyond the source. Fire sprinklers are also known as automatic fire sprinkler systems (AFS) because they are triggered automatically in response to a fire or other dangerous conditions such as high heat, smoke, or CO levels.
Fire sprinklers work by releasing water to put out fires and contain the fire to a particular area. They’re installed in places where they can have the most impact: commonly, in hallways, near stairwells, or on the ceiling of each floor. Fire sprinklers are triggered when a fire is detected and temperatures reach a certain level. Once activated, they release water onto the flames in order to control them - but not before triggering an alarm that draws firefighters to help control the situation. Sprinkler systems are designed so that all you need is one sprinkler head for every 8-10 square feet of space. That’s because it only takes about 20 seconds for water from just one sprinkler head to put out a fire!

Wet Pipe Systems are made up of overhead piping that is filled with pressurized water. When a fire triggers a sprinkler head, water is released immediately to flood the fire. Wet pipe systems are the most common, mainly attributed to their ease of use and dependability. They are also relatively inexpensive to install and maintain. However, problems can arise in temperatures below 40°F, and eventual leaks are a potential problem.
Dry pipe sprinkler systems use air or nitrogen indirect, non-heated pipes instead of pressurized water across the whole system of sprinkler piping. When a sprinkler is activated by a fire, water is released into the piping system and poured onto the fire. Dry pipe systems perform well in chilly conditions. They are, however, more expensive to maintain and may have a delay of up to 60 seconds before water is dispensed.
In some environments, conditions can inadvertently activate a sprinkler. A pre-action sprinkler system is a sort of dry system in which water is kept back by a valve. A detected fire must trigger the pre-action valve in order for the valve to open. Then, one by one, each fire sprinkler head is opened. These systems are ideal for areas that house delicate equipment or expensive items. These systems, however, are more complicated in design, more expensive to install, and more expensive to maintain.
Because of its simplicity, water is frequently employed in fire sprinkler systems. However, it is not the ideal resource for certain types of fires. To extinguish a fire, foam water fire sprinkler systems mix water with a foam concentration mix that runs through the pipe. When putting out flammable solvent fires, such as those caused by gas or alcohol, foam is required. It has the ability to immediately smother gases and eliminate the possibility of re-flashing.
Every commercial kitchen is different, and every business has unique fire protection requirements. Gold Standard understands this and can help you determine the level of protection that you require.
